Purchasing SimpliSafe using Klarna

Klarna, one of the leading global payment and shopping services, has become a household brand over the past few years. They offer direct payments, pay-after-delivery options and installment plans in a smooth one-click purchase experience that lets consumers pay when and how they prefer to.

At SimpliSafe, we recognise that one-up-front payment for our systems can't always be an option for everyone, but that shouldn't mean that whole home security should be ruled out. We strive to bring affordable smart security to everyone. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that you can now purchase a SimpliSafe system through the Klarna app. 

How to Purchase a SimpliSafe System with Klarna:

Step 1: Install the Klarna App

Download and install the Klarna App through one of three methods:

  1. Google Play Store 

  2. Apple App Store

  3. Visit https://www.klarna.com/uk/, click ‘get the app’ in the top right corner, and scan the QR code on screen on your phone/tablet.

Step 2: Create your account:

Within the Klarna App: 

  1. Select the country of residence.

  2. Tap ‘Create account’.

  3. Enter your email.

  4. Confirm and continue.

  5. You’ll receive a verification code at your email address. Enter into the pop-up window.

  6. Enter your phone number. You’ll receive another verification code to link the phone number to your Klarna account.

  7. Fill in the personal application data (your official first and last name, address, etc).

Step 3: Select your System

  1. On the Klarna App, search ‘SimpliSafe’ and click the store page.

  2. Browse and select your desired system.

  3. Click add to basket and choose your monitoring option.

  4. Add your delivery details and click into payment

Step 4: Pay with a One-time payment card

This is a single use top up card to use for your purchase. It is possible to directly link your bank card, but Klarna sometimes requires the use of a one time bank card before this. They may also perform a credit check. For financing options Klarna performs a full credit check, for 3 part payback a soft credit check. A soft credit check doesn't affect your credit score. 

  1. Choose ‘Pay with Klarna’ when you shop in the app and create a new One-time card from the My Klarna Home tab.

  2. This will be a unique card number you can use at our checkout, like any regular credit card.

  3. Each One-time card has a specific payment plan which you can manage and pay off in My Klarna menu.

  4. The created card will be connected to your personal debit or credit card, according to the payment option you chose for you to make regular installments.

  5. The card is used  just once, and, if unused, expires after 24 hours.

  6. You may need to set the spending amount, including shipping, that you plan to use on your purchase.

  7. If correct, click Continue, the App will charge the first payment as a reserve fee. 

  8. Review the order and continue if everything looks correct. 

  9. When you are ready to pay for your SimpliSafe system, select the credit card option and enter the One-time card information you received: the card number, your name, expiration date, and CVV code.

  10. If you end up spending less than the requested amount on your One-time card, you can change the spending amount yourself by selecting ‘Refund unused amount’ on the purchase page. Otherwise, the amount will automatically be adjusted after 14 days.

Does Klarna affect your credit score? 

Using Klarna for Buy Now Pay Later options will not affect your credit score. However, information such as payment holidays and existing, late and unpaid balances is visible on your credit file to other lenders. Klarna Financing options may affect your credit score. 

Making repayments on time consistently will help build a positive history when using our payment options.
